Ana Birchall susține că a fost acuzată de „exces de zel” de fostul edil al Constanței, Radu Mazăre. Fostul ministru al Justiției este cea care a realizat demersurile pentru a-l aduce în țară pe fostul primar, aflat acum în arest în Penitenciarul Rahova. 

Fostul ministru din cabinetul Dăncilă, Ana Birchall a scris un mesaj ironic pe pagina sa de Facebook în care spune că „printr-un exces de zel” l-a adus ” în timp record pe Radu Mazare să execute pedeapsa în România!”. Birchall mai spune că ar fi fost bine „să-l lase pe plajă salvamar”.

„Cu alte cuvinte, faptul că mi-am îndeplinit cu responsabilitate și profesionalism obligațiile de ministru al justiției și l-am adus în țară, într-un timp scurt, este adevărat ( de vineri dupa amiaza pana luni dimineata), pe fugarul Radu Mazăre să-și execute pedeapsa este de condamnat și trebuie sa o punem la zid pe Birchall.
